2011 Chrysler Sebring - Mid-cycle Enhancement by way of 200C Concept?

Personal File: Seems the fate of the much maligned Chrysler Sebring and platform mate Dodge Avenger are not as bad as originally reported. According to reports by AutoWeek and AutoBlog, it appears the platform may be getting a much needed mid-cycle enhancement. This MCE will hopefully help boost sales until fresh product (and capital) from Fiat can arrive by 2012.

If this is the case, I certainly hope they will integrate design cues from the stunning 200c concept shown at Detroit. In the spirit of this news, I have rendered what a 2011 Sebring might very much look like if they go in this direction. Updates include revised front clip from 200c, completely reworked profile (removed all Crossfire cues), new wheels, new side door trim from 300c, deletion of c-pillar black plastic triangle, and new chrome ring around the top of the doors

  1. The side view still looks like a dung beetle.

  3. hmm... I don't like that version. maybe its just the white headlights idk. however, in any case, i belive mergio said the whole car will be reshaped inside & out.. so i doubt it will gain those cues..but its an excellent photoshop job you did!

  4. thanks for your feedback Aaron - I'm looking forward to seeing what they do as the current car is simply a design by committee failure!

  5. I like that design much better than the current style, but the trunk still needs space added to it. Extending the rear of that car by maybe between 5 to 8 inches for extra trunk space would add value and a competitive advantage for this car. I do like the change to the rear door and the fact that the photo shown depicts the Sebring's departure from a Crossfire appearance to a more upscale style that does not resemble a smaller version of the 300.

  6. You are very close regarding the grill and head lamps. The grill extends a little further down and the front quarters are more sculpted or rounded - not sure exactly how to explain it. There will be a new deck lid and tail lamps. It looks MUCH better than the previous model. The rear looks great - for a re-skin that is.

  7. thanks for your feedback Dale and Anonymous (ha ha are you some sort of insider?)

I really hope it does get some new skin. This car needs a revamp badly

Dale - I agree on the trunk, but I doubt they will spend that kind of money for an MCE. My thoughts were how they could clean the car up now without really changing any of the "hard points" :)

  8. It's been months waiting for a "new Sebring" render. It's great, congratulations. I'm not sure about the C pillar, though. The much maligned plastic triangle gives some lightness to the pillar. I'm not sure it will disappear, unless they can change the rear door shape.

  9. I agree that the trunk needs some additional room to make it equal to the competition. Overall the exterior as shown is a great improvement.
